Brazil’s mental health and addiction (MHA) patients have received little help to combat smoking, according to Global Bridges grantee João Mauricio Castaldelli-Maia, MD. His project focused on the implementation of evidence-based tobacco dependence treatment within MHA units that did not run specialized treatment for smoking.
An article by Global Bridges grantee and University of Ottawa Heart Institute program director Sophia Papadakis, Ph.D, was recently published in the Annals of Family Medicine, highlighting the effectiveness of the Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation in primary care practice.
