Tobacco control community celebrates World No Tobacco Day 2017
On May 31, the world came together in support of the World Health Organization’s World No Tobacco Day (WNTD). This year’s focus was “Tobacco – a threat to development,” which highlighted tobacco’s negative environmental and economic impact in addition to its harm to health. Many organizations, including Global Bridges grantee groups, celebrated WNTD on social media. View the Storify below for a sampling of social media chatter.
Among the WNTD celebration was exciting news for two Global Bridges grantees and network members. Linda Sarna, PhD, RN, FAAN, and Stella Aguinaga Bialous, PhD, RN, FAAN, were named Academy Edge Runners by the American Academy of Nursing for their model, Tobacco Free Nurses.
